Meet Ross DeWaard

I was born in Chicago, IL, but at a very young age, my family moved to a small town in rural Wisconsin with a population of just 4,000. Growing up in a tight-knit community was a true blessing, allowing me to experience life in a small-town setting. I spent much of my childhood helping on a neighbor’s dairy farm and participating in activities unique to rural life, which instilled in me a strong work ethic and an appreciation for community.

After high school, my family made another big move—this time to the East Coast, settling in Maine. I attended the University of Maine, where I earned degrees in Business Finance, Marketing, and Management, with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. While Maine’s natural beauty provided endless opportunities for skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking, its long, harsh winters eventually led me to seek warmer weather.

In 2022, I made the move to Charleston, South Carolina, a place I now proudly call home. Since arriving, I’ve lived in various parts of the city, from James Island to Daniel Island to Mount Pleasant. That same year, I also began my career at Curran Financial Partners, fulfilling my long-standing dream of working in finance. Being able to help families achieve both their retirement and short-term financial goals has been incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful to be part of an outstanding firm with a supportive team and a shared commitment to our clients' success.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring everything Charleston has to offer, from its vibrant dining scene to its scenic waterfronts. I also have a deep passion for cars and frequently attend local car events in the area. With my family now spread across the East Coast, I enjoy visiting Maine in the summer, as well as Boston and New York, where my siblings reside. However, Charleston is where I plan to stay—it's truly become home.

In 2025, I completed my coursework to earn the Certified Tax Specialist (CTS) designation, further deepening my knowledge in the world of taxation. I plan to continue expanding my education by pursuing additional financial designations that will strengthen my expertise and allow me to better serve the families and individuals I work with.
