Adam Curran
I got into this business because money was always part of the conversation growing up. I was raised in a middle-class family in Naugatuck, Connecticut, where my dad worked as a self-taught mechanical engineer, and my mom ran her own business as a professional clown. I started hustling early, shoveling snow, mowing lawns and even pulling golf balls out of a pond to sell back to golfers. When I finally saved a couple thousand dollars, my dad decided it was time to “teach me what the rich people do” and took me to buy stock. I put my life savings into Chock full o’Nuts and watched it sink fast. That experience stuck with me. I decided then that I’d never make a financial decision I didn’t fully understand.
Today, I help clients enjoy what they’ve worked so hard to build. One of the best parts of my job is seeing people spend money on experiences that will outlast them and mean something to the people they love. Clients would probably tell you my strengths are taxes, humor and getting people to enjoy their wealth. I believe money should serve your life, not the other way around. As I often say, “You’re going to die. Don’t spend life pecking at your money like a chicken.”
I studied finance and accounting at Drexel University, where I also got my start as a runner on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. From there, I worked at a large family office and in the hedge fund world before founding Curran Financial Partners. I’m also a CFP® professional and hold my Series 66 and Series 7 licenses.
I’ve built my firm around serving hardworking families with the kind of care and financial sophistication often reserved for the ultra-wealthy.
Above all, I’m a family man. My wife, Anna Claire, and our four children are the center of my world, and earning their respect matters more to me than anything else. We live on Daniel Island, South Carolina, where you’ll usually find us searching for shark teeth, exploring playgrounds and enjoying life together. I’m God-fearing, flag-waving, and a lover of babies and puppies. I feel blessed every day to do this work and to serve the families who trust me with such an important part of their lives.
